100 Songs Every Jazz Musician Should Know

Teaching Artist: Jeff Williams

As in classical music, there is a core repertoire that jazz musicians should know and be familiar with. Knowing these songs can help players get gigs, play at jam sessions, or want to start a band. The songs come from the Great American Songbook era, jazz standards, Latin and Bossa Nova songs, and pop songs that have become standards in their own right. This class is open to students on all instruments who are proficient-to-advanced players.

Age: Beginning/Advanced (middle school +)
Day/Time: Monday, 7:30-8:30 pm
Campus: Hingham

Bands also learn how to use the gear typically associated with rock, how to promote themselves, and perhaps most importantly, how to write and rehearse original music through collaborative composition.
