About Duxbury Music Festival (DMF)
Twenty years ago, Duxbury Music Festival (DMF) was born from a spark of inspiration by world-renowned pianist Oxana Yablonskaya, who, enchanted by Duxbury as an ideal setting for a summer music festival, said, “If you start one, I’ll come—and I’ll bring my students.” And she did. This promise was the first note in a symphony of Duxbury summers filled with music, directed by gifted pianist and DMF Artistic Director Stephen Deitz. The festival was then brought to life from the extraordinary community-building efforts of Duxbury native, Barbara Clifford, who rallied an army of volunteers and raised the essential funds to bring this vision to life. Though Barbara is no longer with us, we proudly continue the legacy she so passionately created. Experience this reimagined summer music festival and discover internationally acclaimed classical and jazz teaching artists and their students as they bring fresh sounds to our backyard.

South Shore Conservatory’s Duxbury Music Festival (DMF) offers piano, string, woodwind, brass, voice, and percussion students in high school through post graduate level the opportunity to study and perform at the highest level in an immersive summer setting. This festival brings together talented young musicians from across the region to work with a world-renowned faculty of guest artists in residence through private lessons, masterclasses, chamber ensembles, and collaborative performance experiences.
Students benefit from multiple opportunities to perform alongside both peers and faculty, participate in competitions, and attend professional concerts presented nightly as part of tuition. With both a distinguished classical faculty and an accomplished jazz faculty, DMF fosters artistic growth while encouraging creative fusion and collaboration across musical styles. Through this dynamic and supportive environment, students develop technical mastery, artistic voice, musical insight, and professional confidence.
