Miles Davis
2026 marks the centenary of Miles Davis’s birth (May 26, 1926), with celebrations happening worldwide honoring the jazz icon’s 100th birthday.
Join us for an engaging live lecture tracing the evolution of Miles Davis, one of the most influential artists in music history. Through curated recordings spanning bebop, cool jazz, modal jazz, and fusion, this talk explores how Miles continually reshaped the sound of jazz and launched generations of groundbreaking musicians.
In addition to guided listening with Dr. Steve Bass, Artistic Director (South Shore Conservatory) the event features live musical demonstrations by South Shore Conservatory jazz piano faculty Jeff Williams and Bijon Watson, a Grammy-winning trumpeter. Together, they’ll bring the music to life, illustrating key improvisation concepts in real time and connecting Miles’ recorded legacy to the living language of jazz today.
