Tuition Assistance

TUITION ASSISTANCE AND SCHOLARSHIPS OVERVIEW

As a non-profit community school for the arts, South Shore Conservatory has access at the heart of its mission; it is our goal to provide Tuition Assistance to student families for whom the cost of an SSC education is prohibitive. While the majority of tuition assistance funds are made available to students under age 18, there are limited funds available for adult students.

Financial need-based tuition assistance is available for the current year and applicants can apply online, by mail or in-person. SSC Tuition Assistance is made possible by the generosity of SSC Fund donors who believe in access to the arts for all. We do request all families provide the necessary tax information to ensure swift processing of applications.

It is our sincere hope that the combination of increased payment and schedule flexibility will meet the needs of the majority of students, but we also strive to help any student who qualifies for tuition assistance.

If you have any questions you can email Sharon Bohan, Donor Relations Manager, at tuitionassistance@sscmusic.org

HOW TO APPLY FOR TUITION ASSISTANCE

Applying for tuition assistance is a simple process with only two required steps:

  1. SUBMIT A FULLY COMPLETED SSCONLINE TUITION ASSISTANCE APPLICATION FORM
Please submit the online tuition assistance application form. If you do not have access to a computer and therefore cannot complete the online application form, please call the Hingham campus at 781-749-7565 x14 or the Duxbury campus at 781-934-2731 x10 so we can find a way to help you.
  2. SUBMIT A COPY OF YOUR MOST RECENT IRS 1040 TAX RETURN FORM
    You can either:

    • Scan to email or forward a copy to tuitionassistance@sscmusic.org
    • Mail to South Shore Conservatory, One Conservatory Drive, Hingham, MA, 02043, Attn: Tuition Assistance
    • Drop off a copy of your most recent IRS 1040 by hand at the front desk of either campus.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  1. How do I know that SSC received my completed tuition assistance application and tax information?
When both components of your application (online form and a copy of IRS 1040) have been received, you will receive an email confirming your application is complete.
  2. Can I apply for tuition assistance if I’ve missed a given deadline?
While SSC cannot guarantee the availability of funds after set deadlines, we will process and award applicants on a rolling basis, so long as there are funds still available in our tuition assistance fund. If you are applying outside of the deadline frame for summer, unfortunately given the short length of session, this may not be the case.
  3. I applied for assistance in advance of the deadline. Will I hear back sooner than the time frame stated above?
Unfortunately not. Applications are reviewed by the tuition assistance committee in the days following the application deadline as a whole. As is such, all applicants for any semester will receive response from SSC after the committee has met/during the above noted response time frames. That said, SSC appreciates your timeliness, and we are happy to accept early applications to keep on file for review once the deadline for that semester has passed.
  4. Will you notify me if my family wasn’t eligible for an award?
Absolutely; if an applicant is not deemed eligible for tuition assistance, the family still receives an email response.
