Irish traditional music is meant to be shared. At SSC, students learn more than the notes on a page. They become part of a musical tradition built around playing together.
Boston's rich Irish traditional music scene gives students opportunities to continue learning through live performances, festivals and sessions beyond their lessons.
Advanced students have opportunities to participate in traditional music sessions in Hingham and throughout Greater Boston, connecting with fellow musicians and experiencing the music firsthand.
A MOMENT IN SSC HISTORY
A Celtic Sojourn at SSC
In 2016, South Shore Conservatory was honored to host Brian O'Donovan's A Celtic Sojourn: Roots and Branches, celebrating the rich traditions of Irish music.
Among the performers was Tess Murphy, SSC's very first Irish traditional fiddle student.
Her participation marked a special moment in the history of SSC's Irish traditional fiddle program.
