Join a relaxed, welcoming space where adults come together to make music purely for the joy of it. In this class, participants will learn and play a selection of classic songs while building the skills needed to jam comfortably with others. Each session includes light guidance on chords, song structure, and listening skills, along with plenty of time to play, sing, and collaborate as a group.

This class is designed for adults of all experience levels. Whether you’re picking up your instrument again or trying something new, you’ll gain confidence, connect with other musicians, and enjoy the experience of making music together in a supportive, low-pressure environment. Bring your instrument, your voice, and a willingness to jump in.

Adult Intro to Guitar

Curious about learning guitar? This supportive group class is designed specifically for adults who are new to the instrument or looking to refresh the basics. In a relaxed, encouraging environment, you’ll learn foundational skills like holding and tuning the guitar, basic chords, simple strumming patterns, and how to play along with familiar songs.

Each session combines step-by-step instruction with opportunities to play together as a group, helping you build confidence and develop your skills at a comfortable pace. No prior experience is necessary, just bring your guitar and a willingness to try something new.

Adult Beginner Ukulele

Interested in learning a fun, approachable instrument? This supportive group class is designed for adults who are new to the ukulele or looking to build a strong foundation. In a relaxed, welcoming environment, you’ll learn essential skills like how to hold and tune the instrument, basic chords, simple strumming patterns, and how to play along with familiar songs.

Each session blends clear, step-by-step instruction with opportunities to play together as a group, helping you gain confidence and enjoy making music right away. No prior experience is needed. Just bring your ukulele and a willingness to jump in.

Songwriting Series

Age: 22+
Duxbury campus

The South Shore autistic community is invited to take part in a brand new inclusive Songwriting Series at South Shore Conservatory’s Duxbury Campus. Through the course of 6 workshops, participants will learn to write their own song in a small, supportive environment. Each workshop is led by a dedicated Music Therapist with personalized curriculum, support, and guidance for people with varying backgrounds and experience levels. In this small studio context, peers can support each other, exchange ideas, and build community in the process.

After the workshop period, participants are invited to share their song at an inclusive open mic night, hosted by New England Village. The open mic night is a safe and supportive space for first time songwriters and performers to share their work. The Songwriting Series is supported by The Doug Flutie Jr. Foundation for Autism and is open to adults age 22 and older.

Yoga With Amber

Yoga at SSC offers a chance to slow down, stretch, and reset through mindful movement and breath. This class is open to all levels and focuses on building strength, flexibility, balance, and body awareness in a supportive, inclusive environment. Guided by renowned yoga teacher Amber Gregory, participants will explore accessible sequences, gentle flow, and relaxation techniques designed to support both physical and mental well-being. Whether you are new to yoga or returning to your practice, this class offers a grounding way to care for your body and mind at SSC.

You’ll discover new ways to express yourself and bring your musical imagination to life - no experience needed, just your creativity and curiosity!

Adult Jazz Workshop

Ages: 18+
Location: Hingham

Immerse yourself in the vibrant world of jazz with our Adult Jazz Workshop! Whether you're new to jazz or looking to enhance your skills, our ensemble offers a fun and supportive environment to let your creativity shine. Get started improvising or expand your jazz concepts!

Find out about how to listen and the concept of deep listening. Learn melodies and bass lines by ear so you can hear chords. Explore the recordings of jazz masters to learn style, rhythm, articulation, licks, riffs, and the many nuances of jazz language.

We work with foundational songs from the Jazz and standards repertoire to learn the nuts and bolts of practical theory in use. Then, if we want to, we can throw away the “rules’ and do whatever we like. Everyone is encouraged to ask questions, discuss opinions, and generally communicate in English, as well as in Jazz.

Being comfortably proficient on your instrument or voice is recommended. Please feel free to stop in to experience what we do.

Designed exclusively for adults, this program is your ticket to discovering the sheer joy of singing in a supportive, fun, and friendly environment. 100 Songs Every Jazz Musician Should Know

Ages: 14+
Location: Hingham campus

As in classical music, there is a core repertoire that jazz musicians should know and be familiar with. Knowing these songs can help players get gigs, play at jam sessions, or want to start a band. The songs come from the Great American Songbook era, jazz standards, Latin and Bossa Nova songs, and pop songs that have become standards in their own right. This class is open to students on all instruments who are proficient-to-advanced players.
