Mad Love Rock Band 2026 Auditions

Calling all students entering grades 9 through 12 in September, 2026!
Would you like to be part of an actively gigging rock band? Mad Love rock band is an exciting opportunity to learn about playing music, writing your own songs, booking gigs, marketing yourselves, and so much more! All fees are covered by the Dave Jodka Scholarship for Future Rockers, funded by Mad Love Music Festival.
Prepare two songs to perform with current members of the band. Vocalists requiring key changes should contact Ryan McNeice at r.mcneice@sscmusic.org with their preferred keys for these songs at least two weeks ahead of the audition! Solos may be improvised or transcribed from the record. Keyboardists are encouraged to take solos for their auditions in place of the guitar solos.

- “Don’t Look Back in Anger” by Oasis (tuned to A=440)
Prepare one song to play solo or with a backing track. This is an opportunity to show off your skills and your tastes. This performance should be no longer than four minutes - if your chosen song is longer than four minutes, please choose a part of the song that best displays your skills.
Auditionees will take part in a short interview conducted by current members of the band.

Established in memory of SSC Dad and rock aficionado Dave Jodka, this scholarship supports a fully-funded rock band of individually auditioned high school musicians. In addition to weekly ensemble coaching, the band participates in recording sessions, songwriting and composition practice, creation and distribution of merchandise, and booking venues and gigs. The Dave Jodka Scholarship is funded by direct donations and by proceeds from the annual Mad Love Music Festival.
