Community Jam is a monthly arts program where people of all skill levels and abilities come together to make music. Led by a team of SSC’s music therapists and teaching artists, young adults with and without intellectual developmental disabilities (IDD) will learn the song of the month via chord charts, personalized instruction, and peer support.
Each Community Jam will be broken up into 4 main instrument sections including guitar, piano, bass, and percussion with one to one partners between students with and without IDD. Enrollment is open to young adults (ages 18-35) in the Hingham area with at least beginner knowledge on an instrument.
Community Jam brings together people with a variety of strengths and skills, supporting community integration, inclusion, connection, and joy.
