Join Duxbury Music Festival 2027

June 21 - July 2

Experience an unforgettable week of music, mentorship, and community in the beautiful coastal town of Duxbury, Massachusetts. Study with internationally acclaimed faculty through private lessons, chamber music coaching, masterclasses, student recitals, solo and chamber competitions, and side-by-side performances in a supportive, collaborative environment.

Beyond the rehearsal room, you'll immerse yourself in the life of the festival—exploring Duxbury Bay, connecting with fellow musicians, performing for enthusiastic audiences, and becoming part of a welcoming community that celebrates music all summer long.

Registration and Audition Process

Enrollment in the Duxbury Music Festival is by audition only, and space is limited. Submission of an audition does not guarantee acceptance. Students must be formally accepted in order to enroll.

  1. Click the Audition Now button below to complete the audition form and submit a link to your audition video (see requirements below).
  2. Audition forms with video links must be submitted by February 1, 2027.
  3. Admissions decisions will be emailed by February 15, 2027.
  4. Accepted students will receive an enrollment link to complete registration and submit the $1,000 tuition. All registrations and payments are due by June 1, 2027.
  5. Students must be available for all dates of the Festival: June 20 - July 2, 2026.

Tuition Assistance

The deadline to apply for tuition assistance is May 1, 2027. Students planning to apply should contact frontdesk@sscmusic.org before enrolling for guidance on the process.

Audition Requirements and Instructions

  1. Record a video performance of two contrasting pieces in classical or jazz idiom 
    1. Jazz applicants must ensure at least one selection includes improvisation
  2. Upload your video to a hosting platform such as YouTube, Dropbox, or Google Drive
  3. Set the video to “unlisted” or “private”
  4. Videos should not be password-protected (For Google Drive, select “Anyone with the link can view”)
  5. Copy and paste the video link into your audition form
  6. If technology access is a concern, please contact k.sheehan@sscmusic.org to explore the possibility of an in-person audition at South Shore Conservatory.

 

Program Logistics

The Duxbury Music Festival runs Monday, June 21 – Friday, July 2, 2027, with daily rehearsals, coachings, lessons, and performances designed to provide an immersive musical experience.

  • Daily Schedule: Rehearsals and activities take place 9:00 AM–5:00 PM each day at the Ellison Center for the Arts in Duxbury.
  • Orientation: Students should arrive by 9:00 AM on Monday, June 21 for a welcome breakfast and orientation before rehearsals begin.
  • Housing: Students requiring housing may arrive Sunday, June 20. Host family accommodations and transportation to and from rehearsals will be provided.
  • Detailed Schedule: A high level festival schedule, including rehearsals, lessons, and events, will be available on the DMF website by February 1, 2027.
  • Music & Chamber Assignments: Repertoire, chamber assignments, and sheet music will be distributed electronically by Monday, May 3, 2027.
  • Meals: Lunch, dinner, and snacks are provided for all students each day.

Concert Attendance

One of the most valuable aspects of DMF is learning by listening. All students are required to attend every festival concert, whether or not they are performing. Concerts are scheduled for:

  • Friday, June 25 – 7:00 PM
  • Saturday, June 26 – 3:00 PM
  • Sunday, June 27 – 6:00 PM
  • Tuesday, June 29 – 6:00 PM
  • Wednesday, June 30 – 6:00 PM
  • Thursday, July 1 – 6:00 PM
  • Friday, July 2 – 6:00 PM

 

Festival Experience

In addition to rehearsals and performances, students will enjoy opportunities to connect with fellow musicians and experience the beauty of Duxbury. Monday, June 28 is a performance-free day, and students and faculty will enjoy a boat excursion on Duxbury Bay following lunch - a favorite DMF tradition that celebrates the community and coastal setting that make the festival so unique.
