The Foundation for Creative Achievement Piano Scholarship
The Foundation for Creative Achievement String Scholarship
The Foundation for Creative Achievement Voice Scholarship
Generously underwritten by The Foundation for Creative Achievement, these scholarships provide full-tuition assistance for piano, violin, viola, cello, and voice students respectively. The scholarships cover 60-minute weekly private lessons for the two semesters of the academic year and eight weeks during the summer. Awards are decided on the basis of need, interest and commitment.

Colman's Music Education Fund Scholarship
The Colman’s Music Education Fund was created in loving celebration of Colman and his uncle, both percussionists whose passion for rhythm and music left a lasting impact on their family and community. This scholarship provides $1,000 annually to support a beginner percussion student taking lessons at South Shore Conservatory (SSC) who demonstrates financial need and a genuine interest in exploring the world of percussion.
By removing financial barriers, this award will open the door for a young musician to begin their creative journey in percussion and experience the personal growth, discipline, and joy that music brings. This scholarship will cover approximately one semester of lessons.

Kathy O. Czerny Innovation Fund
Established to honor Kathy Czerny who served as SSC President for 14 year, this fund is designed to further South Shore Conservatory’s (SSC’s) mission and better serve its community by providing financial support to faculty and staff in the creation and implementation of innovative and forward-thinking programming, this fund provides seed money to create long-term, innovative and sustainable programming. Faculty and staff must submit a written proposal for this annual award.
Dave Jodka Scholarship for Future Rockers
Established in memory of SSC Dad and rock aficionado Dave Jodka, this scholarship supports a fully-funded rock band of individually auditioned high school musicians. In addition to weekly ensemble coaching, the band participates in recording sessions, songwriting and composition practice, creation and distribution of merchandise, and booking venues and gigs. The Dave Jodka Scholarship is funded by direct donations and by proceeds from the annual Dave Jodka Mad Love Music Festival.
Ed Sorrentino Summer Music Festival Scholarship
This annual scholarship ensures that a dedicated young musician has the opportunity to benefit from SMF’s high-caliber instruction, performance opportunities, and artistic growth, regardless of financial circumstances, by covering tuition for a student attending Summer Music Festival, up to $700/year.
The Roy S. Kelley Memorial Scholarship Award
Scholarship Overview
The Snug Harbor Community Chorus is pleased to offer a $1,500 scholarship to a high school student(s) in grades 9-11 who either is or will be pursuing their music studies to the next level. This award may be utilized with a private instructor or classes of their choice at South Shore Conservatory. Applications are welcome from students studying voice or any instrument. Please note that the winning applicant will be expected to perform with the Chorus during both the holiday and spring concert programs. Additional details will be provided to the winner.
The scholarship is named in honor of a former director of the Snug Harbor Community Chorus, Roy S. Kelley. Mr. Kelley directed the chorus for over fifteen years while the chorus experience growth in numbers and musicianship. He spent his entire adult life working in the field of music, teaching, performing, directing community choruses, church choirs and privately coaching vocal students.
Snug Harbor Community Chorus is a non-profit organization committed to promoting vocal music through high-quality, family-friendly performances and fostering educational opportunities in music for youth throughout the surrounding communities.
Frances Kimball Westerbeke Memorial Scholarship Fund
Established in memory of Frances Kimball Westerbeke, a dedicated SSC Trustee and patron, this scholarship provides full-tuition assistance for an academic year of 45-minute voice lessons at SSC. The award is presented to a student who displays vocal talent, strong commitment to singing via extra-curricular activities (at SSC, school or other organizations) and financial need.
Malcolm W. Rowell, Jr. Scholarship
For almost 30 years, Bill Rowell directed Summer Wind Ensemble (now Summer Music Festival) with the vision of providing "an artistic experience that would have the potential to transform the lives of young people." SSC is proud to honor Bill's invaluable contributions with the Malcolm W. Rowell, Jr. Scholarship, which is awarded annually to a SMF student who plans to major in music education or performance at the college level.
Curtis Family Preschool Scholarship Fund
The Curtis Family has generously established a fund that provides tuition assistance for students enrolling in SSC’s preschool and kindergarten.
Richard Eisen Honors Brass Scholarship Fund
Established in 2001 by Dr. Richard Eisen, this scholarship supports an auditioned brass ensemble.
