Join the award-winning Sinta Quartet for the Sinta Quartet Institute (SQI), an intense 5-day workshop held at the picturesque South Shore Conservatory in Hingham, Massachusetts! Participants will get to work closely with all four members of the quartet in a variety of settings, such as chamber music coachings, private lessons, and sessions on chamber music and saxophone fundamentals. In addition to a capstone performance of all participant ensembles at SSC’s outdoor covered amphitheater, the perfect venue for summer concerts, student groups will also have the opportunity to perform elsewhere in the Hingham community. Each day will be packed with valuable information that will inspire you and your groups to take the next steps toward your goals in the upcoming academic year.

The SQI is open to saxophonists who are in high school or college. Pre-formed chamber ensembles are preferred but individuals are also encouraged to apply.

SQI will include the following opportunities:

  • Chamber music coachings on repertoire
  • Private lessons with individual members
  • Workshops using our textbook (Chops 3: The Sinta Quartet Method)
  • Sessions on topics such as intonation, voicing, general playing technique, rehearsal techniques, entrepreneurship, and other fundamentals
  • A capstone performance of all participant ensembles at the Carr Amphitheater, SSC Hingham campus on Tuesday, July 11, 7 pm
  • Free admission to SQ concert

*Each day will generally include activities that run from 9am to 5pm (even on weekends) with opportunities in the evenings for performing and socializing.

About the Sinta Quartet

“Virtuosic to the core” (Textura) and hailed as “a tight-knit ensemble exploding with power and virtuosity” (Boston Musical Intelligencer), the Sinta Quartet is on a mission to bring the versatility, homogeneity, and excitement of the saxophone to audiences everywhere. Strengthening an already palpable connection with its audience by performing entirely from memory, the quartet provides a fresh take on chamber music that is at once beautiful, virtuosic, and a completely interactive experience. All four members are also highly experienced educators and chamber music coaches who love sharing their experience and knowledge with eager student musicians of all ages.
