Teaching Artist Statement
As a teacher, my approach is all about meeting my students where they are, and guiding them toward their musical goals. Every student is different, so I strive to incorporate their musical interests in our lessons. I’m open to all genres. As we study music, I find we also learn about ourselves along the way.
Teaching Bio
Tim Maurice attended Bates College, where he studied under Natasha Chances, a student of Alfred Cortot (who was a student of a student of Chopin!) He later transferred to Berklee College of Music, earning a Bachelor of Music in Film Scoring. Tim has been teaching privately since 2015. He served as an artist in residence at Bentley University. He has also worked as a music director for Gann Academy and Suffolk University. Tim joined the faculty at South Shore Conservatory in 2026.
Performance Bio
Tim Maurice attended Bates College, where he studied under Natasha Chances, a student of Alfred Cortot (who was a student of a student of Chopin!) He later transferred to Berklee College of Music, earning a Bachelor of Music in Film Scoring. He recorded and briefly toured around New England as part of a duo for the album Celtic Chamber Music. Tim served as pianist and music director for The Cabaret Series at Central Square Theater, with a critically acclaimed review by The Boston Globe. He also performed with the Hillyer Festival Orchestra for a production of Disney in Concert. Tim also writes, produces, and performs music for independent films, including Searchdog (featured on NBC’s “The Today Show”). Tim joined the faculty at South Shore Conservatory in 2026.
