Course Descriptions

Discovery Readers
Discovery Readers is an early literacy art program that fosters the love of reading through highly engaging books. Reading Specialist Laureen Brown will teach children early reading and critical thinking skills while exposing them to a different story each week. (Media art teacher) Ellen Larkin will have students create a take home art project that will strengthen fine motor skills, expression, and creativity.

Hip Hop Dance
Learn how to move and groove to a hip hop beat! Students learn techniques from different cultures and have a chance to create their own moves. At the end of each semester, students put on a Hip Hop showcase performance for loved ones.

Full STEAM Ahead!
Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math - oh my! Students build, create, experiment, think, and work together. Full STEAM Ahead! really gets the creative juices flowing and encourages teamwork and collaboration among students.

Music in Motion
In this program, your child will strengthen their foundations for music and self expression through dance and play. Children will learn to share their thoughts and ideas in a musical setting that nurtures curiosity and gets your child classroom-ready. Every week follows a unique theme, as we make friends and go on a different artistic journey each class. Every class includes a musical story time, dancing, singing, instrument playing, and is designed to encourage your child’s creativity in a fun, healthy, way.

Outdoor Explorers
A fun nature-based program where students explore the outdoors, including neighboring Bare Cove Park, then engage in a nature-based STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) project. Students will learn about animals, plants, seasons, hibernations, and make birdhouses!

Keys and Sticks
In Keys and Sticks, students will be introduced to early piano and keyboard concepts, explore different percussion instruments, and participate in group drum circles. Students learn basic musical skills while also learning to be part of a musical community and having fun!

You Can Ukulele!
Students will adventure into learning to play the ukulele – no experience required! In each class, students will practice playing, learn fun familiar songs, and review topics related to instrument care and elements of music. Ukuleles provided. Available for purchase if you want your own also!
