Elijah Langille is conductor of the Tutti Music Collective, which is dedicated to supporting music-making that reflects the communities in which it operates, particularly underrepresented groups in classical music, including women, people of color, and those in the LGBTQIA+ community. In addition, he is Assistant/Cover Conductor of the North Charleston Pops, in Charleston SC, and Cover Conductor of South Shore Conservatory’s (SSC) Evenings Under the Stars Orchestra in Hingham, Massachusetts, providing engaging and innovative programming for summertime audiences. He frequently travels to Germany and the Czech Republic to study with notable conductors. Elijah conducted the Marovian Philharmonic in 2019 and 2020, and the Hradec Králové Philharmonic Orchestra in 2023.
Elijah is also an avid educator and conductor throughout Massachusetts. He is currently the Performing Arts Department Head for Barnstable Public Schools, and Program Director and Principal Conductor of SSC Youth Orchestra. He is a graduate of Gordon College and Boston University where he focused on the consequences of power and oppression within the orchestra. His research identified proactive ways of including learners of all abilities, backgrounds, and cultures within a praxial music space.
Elijah sang with the Tanglewood Festival Choir, performing at venues such as Boston’s Symphony Hall, Carnegie Hall, and the Koussevitzky Music Shed, under prominent conductors such as Andris Nelsons and Keith Lockhart. As the organist of Christ Church Parish, Plymouth, he is in charge of instrumental activities. Elijah guest conducts throughout New England, conducting the Parkway Concert Orchestra in 2018, the Junior SEMSBA Orchestra in 2017, and the Senior SEMSBA Orchestra in 2016. He started with SSC in 2014.
