Teaching Statement
I believe that play is truly the work of childhood and the cornerstone to raising a lifelong learner. My philosophy is that a safe, warm, and nurturing environment fosters the confidence to grow socially, emotionally, and cognitively. Each child should be encouraged to follow their curiosity, express their individuality, and accept and appreciate the differences of others. Lastly, and most importantly they should have fun!
Teaching Bio
Beth Summers earned her Bachelor's degree in psychology from Connecticut College. After graduating, and working towards a Master's in counseling psychology, she discovered a passion for working with children. From there she decided to make the move to teaching in early childhood education. She earned her EEC certification while teaching preschool and pre-k for several years. She then went on to co-teach kindergarten at the Learning Project School in Boston before spending years at home raising her own three children (now ages 12, 9 and 5). She was excited to be back in the classroom and to join the amazing faculty at the Conservatory in 2022.
