Nate Kim

Teaching Artist Statement
As a teaching artist, I strive to nurture curiosity, creativity, and confidence through music. My teaching is rooted in empathy, strong artistic values, and a belief in each student’s potential to grow—not just as a musician, but as a whole person. I aim to create a learning environment that is both joyful and rigorous, where students feel safe to take risks, ask questions, and discover their own unique voice through sound.

I bring to my teaching the same spirit that drives my own artistry: a deep love for exploration across genres, a reverence for overlooked composers and musical traditions, and a belief in music as a powerful tool for connection and expression. Whether my students go on to become professional musicians or passionate listeners, my hope is that they carry with them a lifelong appreciation for music’s ability to uplift, inspire, and reveal something essential about ourselves and others.
