Jennie Mulqueen, Director
Woman Song is a vocal ensemble class for women who love to sing. There is no audition, and all songs are taught by ear. Ranging in size from 10-15 voices, the group meets on Wednesday evenings from 7:30-9 pm. The repertoire is inspired by the work of Libana, a Boston-based women’s ensemble of 35 years that has collected and performed music of women from around the world.
Each year brings several opportunities for outreach performances and sing-alongs in retirement communities, schools, residential homes, and anywhere people gather to celebrate life. Attendance is required at the class preceding each outreach event. While a performance product is an important part of our experience, the emphasis is on developing a healthy and sustaining singing practice that can bring fulfillment and light throughout one’s life journey. We strive to bring that light with us and always encourage audience participation at our performances.
Outreach events for this season include the following:
- December 13 Solstice Singing, Hingham retirement community TBA
- December 20: World’s End Caroling
- January 2018: Hingham Retirement Community
- February 2018: Book Launch Celebration, Milton MA
- Spring 2018: TBD
