Voice Department - Core Philosophy

Welcome to the Voice Department! There are so many reasons to sing: artistry, entertainment, worship, self-expression, and just plain fun.  Whatever your reason, the South Shore Conservatory voice department is here to encourage and guide your growth as a singer. We are committed to excellent vocal education that brings out your musical best while nurturing your “voice” in its widest sense.  With private lessons, group classes, ensembles, recitals, open mics, and more, there are many opportunities to join in the song.

Private Instruction
Private lessons provide the highest level of individualized instruction and mentoring.  Since the relationship between teacher and student is integral to the learning experience, we carefully match students with instructors.  Private lessons are appropriate for all levels of student – shy beginners to professionals.  Private lessons are particularly useful to students with targeted goals such as auditions (e.g., community choirs, SEMSBA, college entrance) and performance (open mics, recitals, shows). Register.

Voice Evaluations and Trial Lessons
We offer a voice evaluation service to determine which of our offerings best suit your needs.  Appointments with the voice department chair are 30 minutes in length and cost $45.00.  These “getting-to-know-you” mini-lessons provide lots of opportunity for questions and discussion so you get a sense of what voice study is about at SSC.

Full-length trial lessons with recommended teachers are also available.
