Dave Jodka Scholarship for Future Rockers at South Shore Conservatory
South Shore Conservatory seeks student rockers, who are interested in performing in an energetic, high intensity rock band, to apply for the Dave Jodka Scholarship for Future Rockers. This quality, coached band, once established and prepared, will represent SSC in the community through public performance. The Jodka scholarship was established to enable students of all backgrounds to experience the same love of music that Dave Jodka, a rock aficionado, inspired.
Interested applicants should possess a good mastery of their instrument/voice (at least two years of study), a true passion for working with an ensemble and performing in public, and must be willing to commit to the band for a 14-month period of time. The Future Rockers program begins in April 2016 and continues through the end of June 2017. Students should be freshmen, sophomores or juniors in high school. Since the program continues through the end of spring 2017, applications from current high school seniors cannot be considered.
The SSC Future Rockers band will debut at the second annual Dave Jodka Mad Love Music Festival on October 9, 2016 at South Shore Conservatory in Hingham, and perform at other local venues throughout the year. Students must be available for coaching for 1.5 hours a week on Thursday evenings at the Conservatory’s Duxbury campus, at 64 St. George Street, starting April 2016. After coaching from specialists in a variety of areas including individual instrument and vocal coaching, sound equipment training, branding and marketing training and more, the SSC Future Rockers band will perform under the SSC and Future Rockers banner at local venues both independently and with support from a coach.
· Submit a two minute performance video featuring you playing your instrument(s) and/or singing to email@example.com by
April 15, 2016
· Complete the FORM and return it to SSC with a guardian’s signature
· Call backs will be TBD and coaching TBD at SSC’s Duxbury campus from 5:30 pm – 7 pm. Coaching will continue through the summer (with some flexibility). If selected for a call back audition, you will be notified by Email.
Please note that students outside of SSC are eligible to apply to become a member of SSC Future Rockers band.
