Registration Information
Policies
The Conservatory charges a registration fee of $25 per student or $40 per family per year. All fees and tuitions must be paid by the first lesson. If deferred payment is necessary, it is available in three installments by credit card only. A $25 (or $20 if student registers in the fall for a full year) deferred payment fee will be added to all incremental payment plans. All deposits and registration fees are non-refundable.
Tuition Refund Policy
If it becomes necessary for a student to withdraw from private lessons, the Conservatory will refund a percentage of the tuition provided that a
withdrawal request has been signed and returned to the office. Withdrawal: Prior to 1st lesson – 100%, prior to 2nd lesson - 80%, prior to 3rd lesson – 60 %, prior to 4th lesson – 40%, prior to 5th lesson – 20%. There are no refunds on CLASS LESSONS! The Conservatory reserves the right to cancel courses if enrollment is below an acceptable minimum. In this case, ALL fees will be refunded.
Absences and Make-Up Policy
Private instruction students are permitted one "excused" absence per semester. For an absence to be excused, you must notify the office at least six hours prior to lesson time. All lessons and classes canceled by the school due to weather conditions or because of teacher absences will be made up. The Conservatory schedules make-up weeks at the end of each semester.
Any private lesson that is canceled by your teacher or by SSC due to weather or a holiday will be made-up as a private lesson by your teacher. Because we know that you value your lessons and that most students will have to cancel a lesson at some point during the year due to illness or other commitments, we will be offering two Saturdays of enrichment make-up classes on January 9th and June 5th. These classes might include master classes, audition preparation, opportunities to work with an accompanist, sight reading and rhythm workshops. If you have to miss a lesson, your teacher will sign you up for an appropriate class.
The Make-up Week class schedule will be posted on our website and on the campus bulletin boards two weeks prior to Make-Up Week. The group classes are for excused ‘student’ absences; lessons missed due to teacher illness or teacher schedule conflicts will be made up in private lessons by the student’s individual teacher. Your teacher will review your attendance record and facilitate your sign-up for the group classes. If you have questions, please feel free to email Su D’Ambrosio.
Returned Check Policy
The Conservatory charges a fee of $25 for all returned checks.
Financial Aid
Financial aid is available for children whose families can document financial need. Application forms are available in the office and as a downloadable Word Document and must be filled out and returned prior to the first week of the semester. All applications will be considered by the Scholarship Committee, which meets before each semester to grant assistance. Recipients of scholarship aid must reapply each semester.
