2-Day Lead Teacher
Carol Scheig has worked in early childhood education for over 27 years, and was the director of the Conservatory’s Hingham preschool for over 25 years. A magna cum laude graduate of Curry College with a bachelor of arts, Carol holds a certificate from the Massachusetts Department of Education, and certification from the Office of Child Care Services. A recipient of the Perry Normal School Early Childhood Award for Excellence as well as appearing in the Who’s Who Among Colleges and Universities, she has lectured and conducted workshops on topics such as the importance of the arts in education.
3-Day Lead Teacher
Karen Hill, Kindergarten, received her bachelor's degree from Hofstra University, and her masters in Child Development and Early Childhood Education from Wheelock College. In addition to working as an infant/toddler teacher for Kindercare Learning Center in Manchester, New Hampshire, she has worked as a child care provider for the past six years in a private home. She joined the South Shore Conservatory preschool faculty in 2008.
Typical Daily Schedule
|9:00-9:30||Children and parents/guardians arrive. Parents/guardians sign attendance and are greeted by the staff. Parents/guardians assist their children in handwashing before entering the classroom|
|9:30-9:45||Circle Time: Hello song, creative attendance, language art activity, dramatic play activity, discussion of morning activity possibilities|
|9:45-10:30||Free choice activities and visual art projects|
|10:30-10:45||Clean-Up and Wash Hands|
|11:00-12:00||Story Time/Specialist Time/Outdoor play|
Parents pick up their children at either the Playground or the classroom depending on the weather. Parent/Guardian sign out on attendance sheet.
