Teaching Artist Statement
Music is a wonderful gift to be shared and I enjoy sharing my love for the piano and its repertoire with my students. I stress the importance of building a strong musical foundation of reading, technique and theory, so that one has the necessary tools to confidently play any style of music.
Paul has been a member of the piano faculty at South Shore Conservatory since 1989. He has also taught at the Cambridge Center for Adult Education, Curry College and Charles River School in Dover.
Paul Hoffman, pianist/composer, received his MM Degree in Piano Performance at New England Conservatory, studying with Patricia Zander, and his BA from the University of Pittsburgh, studying piano with Natalie Phillips and composition with Reza Vali.
Paul has earned numerous performance awards, including Third Prize in the 1992 Bartok/Kabalevsky International Piano Competition. He has performed throughout the Boston area both as soloist and as chamber musician. His compositions In This World and Ostinaughty can be heard on the recording In This World by the Silverwood Trio. Paul is Music Director at St. John's Church in East Bridgewater.
Paul also holds a Certificate Degree from Clark University in Computer Graphics and Web Design and is the Graphic/Web Designer for South Shore Conservatory.
