Recent advances in music technology hve made it easier than ever for students to compose, collaborate, record and share their performances and chart their progress. South Shore Conservatory is fortunate to have a state-of-the-art ProTools recording studio as well as several MIDI workstations available for students to create and capture their music.

Electronic Effects for Guitarists
Guitarists have a myriad of choices when it comes to effects, so before you head off to the music store, get some hands on time with the tone shaping tools used by the guitar greats! Learn how effects change the sound of your guitar and how you can use them to discover your own tone in this 12-week course.

Rock Guitar Styles
Every influential guitarist has an approach that makes them sound unique. Learn to identify the elements of style that make players like Hendrix, Page and VanHalen stand out. This class is for intermediate to advanced level students who have a working knowledge of open position and barre chord forms as well as pentatonic and blues scales. 12 weeks

Orchestra Incognito

The advent of synthesizers has made it possible for a few keyboardists to sound like a string orchestra, a four- piece rock band, or a percussion ensemble! In this class you’ll use your keyboarding skills, and our synthesizers in our new group instruction lab, to play a part in a band! 12 weeks

Financial Aid
Financial aid is available for private lessons for children whose families can document financial need. Application forms are available in the office and as a downloadable Word Document and must be filled out and returned prior to the first week of the semester. All applications will be considered by the Scholarship Committee, which meets before each semester to grant assistance. Recipients of scholarship aid must reapply each semester. The deadline for Fall 2008 financial aid applications is August 8, 2008. The deadline for Spring 2009 financial aid applications is January 9, 2009.
