Media Kit

Dear Member of the Media,

Thank you for your interest in South Shore Conservatory (SSC).  Serving almost 3500 students, we stand proud as the largest community school for the arts in Massachusetts, ranking 17th across the nation.  Beyond our Hingham and Duxbury campus walls, our Community Partnership program allows us to offer arts and literacy programs, music therapy and performances to underserved towns south of Boston.

Our diverse faculty of educator/performers share their talents with students ranging from 9 months to 90 years, providing inspirational group instruction in music, drama, dance, and individual lessons in instrumental and vocal music.  Having witnessed the benefits of early exposure to the arts, SSC proudly offers the internationally-recognized MUSIC TOGETHER® program for infants and toddlers, plus an arts-based preschool, pre-k and kindergarten program at our Hingham campus.

Believing that participation in the arts is a right of every individual regardless of ability, we have a growing Creative Arts Therapies department, which allows us to reach challenged populations using music, yoga and the visual arts.

Other unique educational programs include Bay Youth Symphony, Pure Treble and Pure Harmony Choruses, Summer Music Festival, and SSC Community Voices, a chorus for developmentally delayed adults and young adults.

For those more comfortable as audience members, the Conservatory presents quality performances throughout the year, many free and always open to the public.  Our Summer Spotlight outdoor concert series, Duxbury Music Festival (DMF) and annual Jazz/Rock/Pop Festival draw audiences from the Greater Boston area.

In this kit you will find:

Again, I thank you for your interest and welcome an opportunity to answer any questions at your convenience.

Sincerely,

Elaine Sorrentino
