Jane Viemeister

Piano Department Chair Jane L. Viemeister, pianist, composer and poet received her DMA and MFA from the University of Iowa, studying with Kenneth Amada. Her B.Mus. studies at Cornell College was with Julian Bern. Previous to her relocation to Massachusetts, Jane taught a variety of courses at the University of New Mexico, Albuquerque TVI Community College as well as maintained a thriving private studio. She has performed extensively in the Southwest as both soloist and accompanist in venues such as the Santa Fe Symphony Orchestra and Opera Southwest. She was also in demand as a judge for piano competitions in the area.

Jane was the commissioned composer for the New Mexico Music Teachers Association in 1990, and has served twice as president of the New Mexico Women Composers Guild. In Massachusetts, she serves as a lecturer for Bridgewater State College. One of her recent projects was to create and edit questions for the music appreciation textbook "Listen: Brief Fourth Edition" Test Bank, Bedford/St. Martins, 2000.
