Bobby Glynn,WE Conductor, Lab Jazz Conductor
Bobby Glynn is the Band Director in Pepperell, MA where he instructs the 4th-8th Grade Bands, small groups lessons for all wind and percussion instruments, and the Jazz Band. He spent the last four years of teaching instrumental music at Bellingham (MA) Middle School. Mr. Glynn completed his Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education and Percussion Performance at the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 2011. He was a section leader in both the Wind Ensemble and Marching Band and was an active member in the Orchestra, Marimba Ensembles, and Percussion Ensembles.
In 2013, Mr. Glynn completed his Masters in Music Education from The Boston Conservatory and received the singular Music Education award upon graduating. While there, he completed an alternative approach to teaching beginning band students that is in use by various educators across the country. In 2014, he joined the percussion faculty of South Shore Conservatory in Hingham, MA teaching private percussion lessons, coaching students at the Summer Music Festival, and performing a wide variety of music around the South Shore.
As a percussionist, Mr. Glynn has studied with Lincoln Center's Ayano Kataoka and with Drum Corps International Hall of Fame member Thom Hannum. He has toured the United States performing with the World Champion Cadets Drum and Bugle Corps, and has traveled to Brazil to perform with musicians from around the world. As a freelance percussionist, Mr. Glynn currently performs around MA and regularly with The Valley Winds (Belchertown, MA). He has recently taken up the Bodhrán – the traditional Irish frame drum – and enjoys learning the folk music of Ireland through its aural tradition.
When Mr. Glynn is not making music, he enjoys traveling overseas and riding his bicycle.
