Elijah Langille

Teaching Artist Statement
Elijah Langille is a graduate of Boston University, where he received his Master of Music in Music Education where he focused on the consequences of power and oppression within the orchestral. His research identified proactive ways of including learners of all abilities, backgrounds, and cultures within a praxial music classroom. Elijah continues his studies by studying conducting around the world with pedagogues like Michael Ellis Ingram in Schwerin, Germany, and Alim Shakh, in Olomouc Czech Republic. He is an avid educator and performer throughout Massachusetts.

Teaching Bio
Elijah Langille is the Program Director and Principal Conductor of the SSC Youth Orchestra. He is an avid educator and conductor throughout Massachusetts, currently teaching Orchestra at Barnstable High School, is the organist at Christ Church Parish, Plymouth, and the conductor of the Wood Harbor Orchestra in Boston, Ma. A former singer with the Tanglewood Festival Choir, he performed at venues such as Boston’s Symphony Hall, Carnegie Hall, and the Koussevitzky Music Shed under prominent conductors such as Andris Nelsons, Keith Lockhart, and Bramwell Tovey. Elijah has twice conducted the Moravian Philharmonic Orchestra in the city of Olomouc, Czech Republic, studying under prominent Russian conductor Alim Shakh. He also was a guest conductor with the Parkway Concert Orchestra in 2018 and conducted the Junior SEMSBA Orchestra in 2017 and the Senior SEMSBA Orchestra in 2016. He studies conducting with Michael Ellis Ingram, the Korrepetitor and Kapellmeister of the Mecklenburg State Theater in Schwerin, Germany, and is a graduate of Boston University and Gordon College.

Performance Bio
Elijah Langille (He/Him) is the Program Director and Principal Conductor of the SSC Youth Orchestras. He sang with the Tanglewood Festival Choir, performing at venues like Boston’s Symphony Hall, Carnegie Hall, and the Koussevitzky Music Shed, under prominent conductors such as Andris Nelsons and Keith Lockhart. Elijah has been invited to conducted the Moravian Philharmonic in the Czech Republic several times, working with Russian conductor Alim Shakh. He continues to travel around the world to sharpen his musicianship.

As the organist of Christ Church Parish, Plymouth, he is in charge of instrumental activities consistently bringing musicians together of different styles and backgrounds to create unique experiences. Elijah also guest conducts throughout New England, conducting the Parkway Concert Orchestra in 2018, the Junior SEMSBA Orchestra in 2017, and the Senior SEMSBA Orchestra in 2016.

Continuing his conducting studies, Elijah works with Michael Ellis Ingram, the Korrepetitor, and Kapellmeister of the Mecklenburg State Theater in Schwerin, Germany. He is a graduate of Gordon College and Boston University.
