Duxbury Music Festival Prep Program (DMF Prep) is an intensive chamber music program designed to provide string players and pianists who demonstrate an intermediate to advanced level of musicianship and technical proficiency the opportunity to explore classical chamber ensemble and orchestral repertoire under the guidance of South Shore Conservatory faculty. Students will be assigned chamber repertoire that not only complements their current level of ability but encourages them to take their playing to the next level. Ensembles will be formed to ensure that each member will be able to play to his/her full potential. Each string player will also participate in either the Junior or the Senior String Orchestra. Members of the Senior Division will receive an additional hour of coaching with a member of the Duxbury Music Festival faculty on July 21.

One pianist will be chosen to play the first movement (Allegro aperto) of Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 8 in C Major, K.246 with the orchestra(s). All other pianists may choose to play in the orchestra, (if they pass a string proficiency,) or play piano repertoire for multi-hand piano or multi pianos.

All students receive daily chamber music coaching, practice sessions supervised by DMF Prep faculty and musicianship class.

Private lessons with DMF Prep faculty (offered at an additional cost of $30 for a 30-minute lesson or $45 for a 45-minute lesson) will be given on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday (July 13-July 16).

30-minute lesson: $30 45-minute lesson: $45

Students are encouraged to attend the full program, however, an “orchestra only” option is available.
